FOOT HEALTH CARE

Treatment for Verrucae and Nail Fungal

1. laser treatment requires a treatment every week as a minimum for 4-6 weeks at the start. We often advise twice a week for the first 2-3 weeks. You should live locally, or your job should allow this frequent visiting.
2. The treatment takes 12 minutes per foot – 24 mins for both feet.
3. The nails grow 0.5-1 millimetre a month so progress is slow. Normally results can be seen after 2-3 months as the nails grow.
4. There may be damage to the nail if its particularly thick or curled which may affect the result.
5. In some patients we do advise topical treatment with professional debridement (thinning) of the nail combined with topical medication as Terbinafine ( to be discussed in the consultation)

The removal is minimally invasive, hence scarring is minimal to none, this depending on your skin’s ability to heal fully.
A local numbing cream can be used for maximum comfort during this cosmetic procedure, and in a matter of minutes you can leave the clinic as there is no downtime required. No scalpel, no pain, no major side-effects, just a potential mild post-procedural swelling or reddening of the treated area, which will subside in a day or two.

The main potential risks include:
Scarring
All methods of mole removal will result in a permanent scar. The scar is usually a flat area about the size of the treated mole.
Infection
Infection is uncommon following the procedure.
Bleeding
Some bleeding or oozing can be expected after the laser treatment. This usually stops quickly with a little pressure to the area.
Incomplete Removal
It may not fully remove the mole since the laser ablates the upper layers of the mole. Some cells may be present in deeper layers of skin that may not be ablated with the laser.
Recurrence
The is a risk of the mole growing back following the procedure.
